York County is one of Maine’s sixteen counties, established in 1652. It has an estimated 222,434 residents (2025), compared with 211,972 in the 2020 Census.

In the 2024 presidential race, Kamala Harris carried York County with 54.3% to 43.8% for Donald Trump. That was a Democratic margin of 10.5 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Janet Mills carried York County with 58.2% to 39.9% for Paul LePage. In the 2024 U.S. Senate race, Angus King (Unenrolled) carried York County with 50% to 35.2% for Demi Kouzounas. On the Partisan Electoral Alignment Index (Partisan EAI), it ranks as the 5th most Democratic of 16 counties.
