Southern Coast is one of twelve Regions of Maine defined for this site. It has an estimated 128,553 residents (2025), compared with 122,190 in the 2020 Census.

It takes in 12 cities, towns and plantations, the largest Biddeford, Saco, York, and Kennebunk.

In the 2024 presidential race, Kamala Harris carried the region with 61.6% to 36.5% for Donald Trump. That was a Democratic margin of 25.1 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Janet Mills carried the region with 65.2% to 33.1% for Paul LePage. In the 2024 U.S. Senate race, Angus King (Unenrolled) carried the region with 53.8% to 30% for Demi Kouzounas. On the Partisan Electoral Alignment Index (Partisan EAI), it ranks as the 2nd most Democratic of 12 regions.

As of March 7, 2026, Southern Coast had 86,273 active registered voters: 40.3% Democrats, 23.2% Republicans, 33.7% unenrolled, and 2.4% Green Independents. The median household income is $90,761 and the median home value $463,014, against $74,733 and $296,600 statewide.
