State House District 8 is one of Maine’s 151 State House districts, as drawn in the 2021 redistricting plan and in effect since the 2022 election. Its population was 9,824 in the 2020 Census.
It takes in 23 places, the largest of them Hodgdon, Lee, Sherman, Island Falls, and Mattawamkeag. It is represented in the Maine House of Representatives by Rep. Tracy Quint (R-Hodgdon).
In the 2024 presidential race, Donald Trump carried the district with 75.5% to 23.2% for Kamala Harris. That was a Republican margin of 52.3 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Paul LePage carried the district with 70.8% to 27.2% for Janet Mills. In the 2024 U.S. Senate race, Demi Kouzounas carried the district with 57.7% to 34.1% for Angus King (Unenrolled). On the Partisan Electoral Alignment Index (Partisan EAI), it ranks as the most Republican of 151 State House districts.
As of March 7, 2026, State House District 8 had 5,635 active registered voters: 15.2% Democrats, 49.7% Republicans, 31.1% unenrolled, and 3.6% Green Independents. The median household income is $50,139 and the median home value $123,400, against $74,733 and $296,600 statewide.
