It is part of Congressional District 1, State Senate District 25, State House District 110, and County Commissioner District 3, in the Greater Portland region.

In the 2024 presidential race, Kamala Harris carried Long Island with 69% to 29% for Donald Trump. That was a Democratic margin of 40 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Janet Mills carried Long Island with 72.5% to 25.8% for Paul LePage. In the 2024 U.S. Senate race, Angus King (Unenrolled) carried Long Island with 64.5% to 24.5% for Demi Kouzounas.
