Somerset County Commissioner District 5 is one of Somerset County’s five commissioner districts under the current plan (2021, with the 2024 update). Its population was 9,607 in the 2020 Census.

It takes in 15 cities, towns and plantations, the largest Canaan, Hartland, Solon, and Athens.

In the 2024 presidential race, Donald Trump carried the district with 67.3% to 31% for Kamala Harris. That was a Republican margin of 36.3 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Paul LePage carried the district with 63.4% to 33.9% for Janet Mills. In the 2024 U.S. Senate race, Demi Kouzounas carried the district with 50.6% to 40.5% for Angus King (Unenrolled). On the Partisan Electoral Alignment Index (Partisan EAI), it ranks as the 2nd most Republican of 60 county commissioner districts.

As of March 7, 2026, Somerset County Commissioner District 5 had 6,565 active registered voters: 20% Democrats, 45.8% Republicans, 30.5% unenrolled, and 3.4% Green Independents.
