State House District 71 is one of Maine’s 151 State House districts, as drawn in the 2021 redistricting plan and in effect since the 2022 election. Its population was 9,489 in the 2020 Census.
It takes in Madison, Norridgewock, and Cornville. It is represented in the Maine House of Representatives by Rep. John Ducharme (R-Madison).
In the 2024 presidential race, Donald Trump carried the district with 62.1% to 36.2% for Kamala Harris. That was a Republican margin of 25.9 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Paul LePage carried the district with 56.7% to 41.4% for Janet Mills. In the 2024 U.S. Senate race, Demi Kouzounas carried the district with 46.6% to 44.7% for Angus King (Unenrolled). On the Partisan Electoral Alignment Index (Partisan EAI), it ranks as the 25th most Republican of 151 State House districts.
