Madison is a town in Somerset County, Maine, incorporated in 1804. It has an estimated 4,888 residents (2025), compared with 4,726 in the 2020 Census.
It is part of Congressional District 2, State Senate District 3, State House District 71, and County Commissioner District 2, in the Central Maine region.
In the 2024 presidential race, Donald Trump carried Madison with 61.6% to 36.6% for Kamala Harris. That was a Republican margin of 25 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Paul LePage carried Madison with 54.1% to 43.9% for Janet Mills. In the 2024 U.S. Senate race, Angus King (Unenrolled) carried Madison with 46.2% to 44.8% for Demi Kouzounas. On the Partisan Electoral Alignment Index (Partisan EAI), it ranks as the 234th most Republican of 504 towns.
