State House District 79 is one of Maine’s 151 State House districts, as drawn in the 2021 redistricting plan and in effect since the 2022 election. Its population was 9,203 in the 2020 Census.
It takes in Paris, West Paris, Woodstock, and Sumner. It is represented in the Maine House of Representatives by Rep. Michael Lance (R-Paris).
In the 2024 presidential race, Donald Trump carried the district with 58.6% to 39.7% for Kamala Harris. That was a Republican margin of 18.9 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Paul LePage carried the district with 53.6% to 43.8% for Janet Mills. In the 2024 U.S. Senate race, Angus King (Unenrolled) carried the district with 48.6% to 41.7% for Demi Kouzounas. On the Partisan Electoral Alignment Index (Partisan EAI), it ranks as the 35th most Republican of 151 State House districts.
