State Senate District 34 is one of Maine’s 35 State Senate districts, as drawn in the 2021 redistricting plan and in effect since the 2022 election. Its population was 40,521 in the 2020 Census.
It takes in Kennebunk, Wells, Berwick, North Berwick, and Kennebunkport. It is represented in the Maine Senate by Sen. Joseph E. Rafferty (D-Kennebunk).
In the 2024 presidential race, Kamala Harris carried the district with 56.5% to 41.7% for Donald Trump. That was a Democratic margin of 14.8 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Janet Mills carried the district with 60.8% to 37.5% for Paul LePage. In the 2024 U.S. Senate race, Angus King (Unenrolled) carried the district with 50.9% to 34.3% for Demi Kouzounas. On the Partisan Electoral Alignment Index (Partisan EAI), it ranks as the 13th most Democratic of 35 State Senate districts.
