It is part of Congressional District 1, State Senate District 31, State House District 137 (76% of residents), State House District 138 (24% of residents), and County Commissioner District 3, in the Western Maine region.
In the 2024 presidential race, Donald Trump carried Buxton with 52.1% to 45.8% for Kamala Harris. That was a Republican margin of 6.3 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Paul LePage carried Buxton with 49.4% to 48.7% for Janet Mills. In the 2024 U.S. Senate race, Angus King (Unenrolled) carried Buxton with 47.6% to 41.7% for Demi Kouzounas.
