It is part of Congressional District 2, State Senate District 5, State House District 75, County Commissioner District 2, and County Commissioner District 1, in the Western Maine region.

In the 2024 presidential race, Kamala Harris carried Farmington with 55.3% to 42% for Donald Trump. That was a Democratic margin of 13.3 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Janet Mills carried Farmington with 61.7% to 36.3% for Paul LePage.
