It is part of Congressional District 1, State Senate District 24, State House District 52, and County Commissioner District 3, in the Central Maine region.

In the 2024 presidential race, Donald Trump carried Richmond with 53% to 44.8% for Kamala Harris. That was a Republican margin of 8.2 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Paul LePage carried Richmond with 50.6% to 47.3% for Janet Mills.
