State Senate District 19 is one of Maine’s 35 State Senate districts, as drawn in the 2021 redistricting plan and in effect since the 2022 election. Its population was 39,680 in the 2020 Census.
It takes in 35 places, the largest of them Rumford, Jay, Mexico, Bethel, and Dixfield. It is represented in the Maine Senate by Sen. Joseph E. Martin (R-Rumford).
In the 2024 presidential race, Donald Trump carried the district with 56.8% to 41.3% for Kamala Harris. That was a Republican margin of 15.5 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Paul LePage carried the district with 52.6% to 45% for Janet Mills. In the 2024 U.S. Senate race, Angus King (Unenrolled) carried the district with 48.8% to 41.3% for Demi Kouzounas. On the Partisan Electoral Alignment Index (Partisan EAI), it ranks as the 10th most Republican of 35 State Senate districts.
