State Senate District 22 is one of Maine’s 35 State Senate districts, as drawn in the 2021 redistricting plan and in effect since the 2022 election. Its population was 39,596 in the 2020 Census.
It takes in 13 places, the largest of them Standish, Naples, Limington, Limerick, and Shapleigh. It is represented in the Maine Senate by Sen. James D. Libby (R-Standish).
In the 2024 presidential race, Donald Trump carried the district with 57.4% to 40.8% for Kamala Harris. That was a Republican margin of 16.6 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Paul LePage carried the district with 54% to 44.2% for Janet Mills. In the 2024 U.S. Senate race, Demi Kouzounas carried the district with 45.3% to 44% for Angus King (Unenrolled). On the Partisan Electoral Alignment Index (Partisan EAI), it ranks as the 6th most Republican of 35 State Senate districts.
