It is part of Congressional District 2, State Senate District 17, State House District 58, and County Commissioner District 2, in the Central Maine region.

In the 2024 presidential race, Donald Trump carried Fayette with 52.6% to 45.9% for Kamala Harris. That was a Republican margin of 6.7 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Paul LePage carried Fayette with 51.4% to 47.4% for Janet Mills. In the 2024 U.S. Senate race, Angus King (Unenrolled) carried Fayette with 48% to 42.1% for Demi Kouzounas.
