It is part of Congressional District 2, State Senate District 7, State House District 14, and County Commissioner District 3, in the Acadia Region.
In the 2024 presidential race, Kamala Harris carried Mount Desert with 73% to 24.1% for Donald Trump. That was a Democratic margin of 48.9 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide.
