North Woods Region is one of twelve Regions of Maine defined for this site. It has an estimated 49,935 residents (2025), compared with 48,629 in the 2020 Census.

It takes in 55 cities, towns and plantations, the largest Lincoln, Dover-Foxcroft, Millinocket, and Dexter.

In the 2024 presidential race, Donald Trump carried the region with 66.4% to 32% for Kamala Harris. That was a Republican margin of 34.4 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Paul LePage carried the region with 62% to 36% for Janet Mills. In the 2024 U.S. Senate race, Demi Kouzounas carried the region with 50.5% to 41% for Angus King (Unenrolled). On the Partisan Electoral Alignment Index (Partisan EAI), it ranks as the most Republican of 12 regions.

As of March 7, 2026, North Woods Region had 30,971 active registered voters: 20.9% Democrats, 44.8% Republicans, 30.5% unenrolled, and 3.3% Green Independents. The median household income is $57,136 and the median home value $154,481, against $74,733 and $296,600 statewide.
