It is part of Congressional District 1, State Senate District 15, State House District 62, and County Commissioner District 1, in the Central Maine region.

In the 2024 presidential race, Donald Trump carried China with 57.1% to 40.4% for Kamala Harris. That was a Republican margin of 16.7 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Paul LePage carried China with 52.7% to 45.6% for Janet Mills. In the 2024 U.S. Senate race, Angus King (Unenrolled) carried China with 47% to 42.9% for Demi Kouzounas.
