It is part of Congressional District 2, State Senate District 14, State House District 54, and County Commissioner District 2, in the Central Maine region.
In the 2024 presidential race, Kamala Harris carried Gardiner with 52.4% to 38.3% for Donald Trump. That was a Democratic margin of 14.1 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Janet Mills carried Gardiner with 56.4% to 41.3% for Paul LePage. In the 2024 U.S. Senate race, Angus King (Unenrolled) carried Gardiner with 60.4% to 35.4% for Demi Kouzounas.
