It is part of Congressional District 2, State Senate District 14, State House District 55, and County Commissioner District 2, in the Central Maine region.

In the 2024 presidential race, Kamala Harris carried Hallowell with 73.1% to 24.7% for Donald Trump. That was a Democratic margin of 48.4 points, against a Democratic margin of 6.9 points statewide. In the 2022 governor’s race, Janet Mills carried Hallowell with 75.9% to 22.8% for Paul LePage. In the 2024 U.S. Senate race, Angus King (Unenrolled) carried Hallowell with 68.3% to 18.4% for Demi Kouzounas.
